Mykal (pron. Michael) Sidenstricker, Muralist and Trompe l’ Oeil Artist is currently
enjoying his seventh season here at Lake Almanor and has been turning heads with his faux walls, whole room murals and Trompe
l’ Oeil illusions.
Mykal started creating with paint as a faux technician in 2001. Prior to this he was an innovative
and successful freelance illustrator, creative director, graphic designer and webmaster for nearly two decades in the Silicon
Valley. His creative services included corporate and product identity, product packaging, large display graphics, design for
print and magazine ads, websites, multi-media and 3-D animation.
In 2002, with no formal training, he grabbed a handful
of artist brushes and began painting whole room murals and illusional Trompe l' Oeil works. In addition to painting on walls,
he produces sculpted works on canvas and “Altered Reality” digital prints. A visionary, Mykal is currently formulating
a new procedure on glass to replicate colorful nebulas and gaseous stellar oddities photographed by Hubble DST.
When not
painting, he enjoys backpacking, writing lyrics, poetry or adding another chapter to a book in progress.
