Committed to Student Success through the Arts

In 2010, the Lake Almanor Community Foundation
will present the seventh annual
Art Around the Lake
in partnership with  Plumas Arts Council and Feather River Fine Arts Association.
Proceeds from the  event will benefit music and arts programs in Chester,
Westwood and Greenville schools.
The Foundation takes pride in working with the talented and generous local artists,
who are as committed as we are to the importance of art in the overall success
of our students.Through this event alone, the Foundation has been able
to donate $30,000 to Almanor Basin schools.

This year, thanks to coordination with Seneca Hospice, we will hold an elegant dinner auction.  The dinner auction will include art, as well as art-related items, such as a portraiture sitting,  flower-arranging and painting lessons, as well as a gourmet seafood dinner.  We are inviting local businesses and art connoisseurs to sponsor and decorate a table.  In 2011, we will return to the open studios/auction reception format.  If you are interested in getting involved, please contact any of our members.   A list of confirmed table sponsors is below, as well as  items for the auction, donated by our generous community.

"Fisherman" is a beautiful acrylic on canvas by ninth grader Shannon O'Kelley.  Shannon is a student in Mrs. Becky Compton's art class at Chester High.  Shannon's inspiration was a photograph taken by another of our participating artists, Susan Mueller.    Please take a look at our Artists page to find out more about past and present participants.  Shannon will receive an award of $100 at the dinner/auction at the Foxwood Pavilion.  Thanks also to Pam Trebes for photographing the winning image, and to Jacquie Cordova for her information about the benefits of art education for the website.
